Saturday, September 4, 2021: Tremiti Islands
By Abby Byrd
Today, CCI had the opportunity to visit the beautiful outdoors of San Nicola Di Tremiti. Students and staff enjoyed spending time at the beach and hiking around the islands. The trip commenced with an hour and a half bus ride to the ferry launch and then we travelled by water to the islands of Tremiti. Upon arrival, we explored the old Church of Santa Maria a Mare and then boarded a small boat and went to the main island of San Domino. Most students went to the other side of the island to go swimming on one of the older, more established beaches, but others went to the newer main beach where there was swimming and lots of sun tanning. After a few hours passed we all gathered together at the dock to get onboard our ferry to return to the mainland. During our trip back, we spent our time talking, playing card games and even singing. Once we reached the shore, we disembarked and found our seats on the bus. It was extremely quiet for a while because some of us were taking naps, others read and listened to music. Anyone could see that the day was really enjoyable and will always be full of fond memories for all of us who participated.
