The Tremiti Islands are located off the east coast of Italy. We travelled there on Sunday after having to postpone the trip for poor weather conditions. As you will see from the images below, the wait was worth it!
From Lanciano we travelled south to the port town of Termoli and boarded a jet boat to Tremiti. It was a windy ride with some impressive waves.
After an hour on the boat, San Domino, the largest of the Tremiti Islands, was in full view.
From San Domino we took a small boat across to San Nicola to visit an abbey built by the Benedictine monks in the 800s.
We climbed to the top of the island for some beautiful views and photographs.
The rest of the day was spent on the beach of San Domino. As we move into October, this was likely our last day to enjoy swimming in the Adriatic. Not a bad way to say goodbye to summer and hello to fall.
