CCI traveled to the Tremiti Islands last Saturday. The islands are located off the east coast of Italy near the Gargano Peninsula.
We traveled south from Lanciano to the port town of Termoli and boarded a jet boat to Tremiti. While we had poor weather in the morning, forecasts told us the day would brighten up.
After an hour on the boat we arrived on San Domino, the largest of the Tremiti Islands. From San Domino we took a small boat across to San Nicola to visit an abbey built by the Benedictine monks in the 800s.
We climbed to the top of the island for some beautiful views and photographs.
The rest of the day was spent on San Domino, where we could swim and explore the island on foot.
Next weekend we head to the Maiella for a hike in the mountains. All of this outdoor activity is certainly a great way to end a week of classes.
