It’s been a while since my last blog as we had our two-week March Break. After reconnecting with staff and students, it sounds like everyone enjoyed their time with family or touring through Europe with friends.
After getting back into the swing of things in Lanciano, we held a day trip this past weekend to Tivoli.
Tivoli is a hilltop town about an hour outside of Rome. There, you can find Villa d’Este; a 16th century palace with the most beautiful gardens. Our morning was spent walking past the many pools and fountains.
On our way back to Lanciano, we stopped in Sulmona. The town has some of the best-preserved Roman aqueducts running right through its centre. The town is also famous for its confetti; they are traditional sweets with a almond centre covered in chocolate and a candy shell. Often, you can find them in the shapes of flowers.
This coming weekend we will be heading to Dubrovnik for an optional trip. I will be sure to post many pictures from that adventure, so stay tuned!
