Summer Academy 2024 - Grotte del Cavallone

From Lanciano, the view to the west is dominated by the Apennines mountain range. The mountain closest to us is the Maiella, which is where CCI traveled last weekend. 

We made our way to the Maiella National Park, with the bus winding its way toward Taranta Peligna. Before coming to the entrance of the cave, we took a twenty minute ride up the mountain in a gondola basket lift. There, we met our guides, put on our helmets, and entered the cave. 

Grotte del Cavallone is approximately 2 kilometers in length, and the temperature is about 10°C, which was a welcomed break!
