The Villa D’ Este and the Villa Borghese
Last Saturday, we took our last school trip to Rome. On the way, we toured the gardens of the Villa D’ Este, a Renaissance home perched high on a high near Tivoli. While the house itself is grand and there are hints of its former grandeur in some of the rooms, the gardens and fountains are breathtaking.
This is the view overlooking part of Tivoli.
Waiting for the bus to take us to Rome.
Once in Rome, we visited the Gallery Borghese which is again, a beautiful Renaissance house which now houses a magnificent art collection amassed by the Borghese family, one of the wealthiest of its day. Unfortunately, one cannot take photographs inside.
