CCI’s summer students were treated to a traditional mountain picnic on Sunday. We arrived at Acquevive Park near Taranta Peligna just before lunch, giving us time to walk along the beautiful river that flows through the mountain valley. The water is crystal clear, and also freezing cold, but that didn’t stop some brave students from getting their feet wet.
For lunch, Mr. C and Lula prepared the ultimate Abruzzese picnic food: Arrosticini. These are skewers of lamb or sheep, seasoned with salt, and cooked over hot coals. We cooked 200 of them! We also had sausages, salads, and lasagna.
Students then went for a walk around the short hiking loop, followed by some relaxation along the river on this lazy summer day in Italy.
