October 29, 2021: Halloween Night

The night was cold, windy and it looked like it had rained all day long; the laneways to the Allegria were soaked, in short, it was a perfect day for Halloween. Even the weather helped to create a spooky atmosphere. The student lounge was transformed with all kinds of scary decorations. The student council did an excellent job from spider webs to fake bloody knives hanging on the ceiling. It looked as if nobody had cleaned up the lounge in years, and spider webs filled every spot in each room. Moreover, the music was the perfect mix between party songs and spooky Halloween music. Then Mr. Mathews brought roasted pumpkin seeds, which were the most delicious thing ever, and the kitchen made us hamburgers and French fries. Virtually every student wore creative costumes which was impressive considering we were so far away from home and a lot of old clothes that we could have used to make costumes. It is hard to make a costume without many supplies at hand, but these costumes were terrific. Some people used whatever clothes they could find in their residence rooms to make their costumes. Others bought some unusual stuff from the dollar store in Lanciano. Not only were students in costumes, but also some of the teachers and the dons of the residences. It was amazing. What I enjoyed the most was the variety of the costumes and the decorations because they were so creative and well done. I also appreciated that we brought the carved pumpkins to the student lounge. With candles in them, they added to the atmosphere. I enjoyed it so much. Next time it will be great to have more decorations and more Halloween snacks. It will be spook-tacular.
