We woke up early Sunday morning and headed to Florence; in my mind, it’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
We reached Florence in the early afternoon. Before checking in to the Hotel Adriatico, we stopped at Piazzale Michelangelo for an amazing view of the city.
From the hotel, the Accademia is a short walk. This gallery houses David, the most iconic sculptures in the world.
Upon arrival, Ms. Tozzi's Italian Studies class led presentations on the David. It’s amazing to think that Michelangelo was only 30 years old when he completed this masterpiece.
We regrouped at the hotel for dinner. Afterward, we set out on a tour of the town, which included a walk along the Arno River toward Ponte Vecchio. We ended the tour at the Piazza della Signoria, where Ms. K's art class told us about the many sculptures in the square.
