By Ellie Peabody

CCI hit off our first overnight trip by visiting Sorrento, Caserta, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast to visit the home of lemons! Our adventure started when we checked into our hotel at around 6 o’clock and everyone got ready for a nice group dinner in the dining hall, where we enjoyed a delicious three course meal. We then took advantage of our night by going to explore the city of Sorrento. We walked through many narrow streets which were packed with vendors who were selling ceramics, and all your other typical touristy objects. Then we made the big trek down to the port to walk along the water and get some gelato and make it back just in time for our curfew. Everyone headed back to their rooms to get a good night's rest before we headed out for our big adventure to the Amalfi Coast.

Gorgeous views from the hotel of Sorrento at night.

We woke up bright and early to enjoy some breakfast in the hotel before walking down to the port in Sorrento to hop on a ferry for the Amalfi Coast. After about a two-hour ferry ride, we arrived in Amalfi and everyone hurried off to explore this cliffside town! Many people went for lunch and enjoyed some good pizza and of course made some stops for gelato. The Amalfi coast is known for its lemons so everywhere you looked, you saw something to do with these low-hanging fruits, whether it was lemon gelato, lemon flavoured candies, or Amalfi's famous Limoncello. As they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemon sorbet. Some people ended their visit with a quick swim in the ocean to cool down from the insane heat. We then hopped back on the ferry to head back to Sorrento to get on the bus to go home. During the ferry ride back, many people caught up on sleep, played cards and enjoyed a breathtaking sunset. We wrapped up our trip with a long bus ride back to Lanciano.

Crisp, sapphire waters and colourful houses line the Amalfi Coast.
