Bocca di Valle

Bocca di Valle

When thinking of Italian landscapes, rolling hills of olive orchards and vineyards come to mind. Those traveling to Italy for the first time may be surprised by the rugged mountains. Where we are located in Abruzzo, these mountains are the Apennines.

Two weekends ago, we traveled to the little town of Bocca di Valle for a hike. From the town, we followed the river bed up into the mountains, with the San Giovanni waterfall as our destination.

The hike up the mountain takes an hour or so, but the views are very much worth it.

After some steep climbs, we made it to Cascata San Giovanni! Our bravest students even jumped into the freezing cold pool beneath the waterfall.

But that hasn't been the end of our adventures; this past Saturday we traveled to Rome, the Eternal City. Stay tuned for more.
