Thursday, November 18, 2021: Armed with a Meaningful Education
By Andrea Petitti
I came here to CCI to embrace a new adventure, both for my social and academic life. So after almost three months of living in Lanciano, I have been very pleasantly surprised. Even if I love spending time with my new friends, CCI has pushed me also to live a challenging educational experience. Between the virtual labs in Biology class with Miss Schiller, literature studies with Mr. Bellisario and our reflections on human behaviour with Miss Carriere, I find myself at the centre of some exciting personal growth. I do this to accomplish a better future life. All the teachers at CCI, thanks to the small sizes of the classes, have regular and direct contact with their students, one-on-one learning sessions everyday, that makes the learning both personal and more interesting.
In our classes, we are always pushed to ask good questions, learn using different methods, and experience the cultural enrichment of an international student body. It is possible to teach students using the latest techniques like the “flipped classroom” or to improve our speaking skills using seminars or give everyone the chance to learn at their own pace…within reason. After classes we are encouraged to visit our teachers who then elaborate on what we learned in class, exercise our practical skills and, in case of any problems, resolve them with their help. At last, in the evening, after a long day, we can finish our studies and work with our friends or ask for more help from the teacher supervising the one hour of study hall. During this period, both individual and group learning are favoured and put on a pedestal to enrich our lives not only with knowledge, but also with values like independence, teamwork and responsibility. At the end of the day, I can say that I have made progress and I am moving forward towards a bright future armed with a meaningful education.
