Canadian College ItalyCanada's Top High School in Italy

Campus

Unlike many North American school campuses, the Canadian College Italy campus is actually situated within the historical centre of the town of Lanciano. Nestled within the panoramic beauty of the mountains of Abruzzo, and a mere eight kilometers to the scenic seashores of the Adriatic Coast, this historic setting provides a unique back-drop for learning and living.

The School building is a 14th century stone and brick palazzo which is located on Via Cavour, a tiny vico up a steep flight of stairs adjacent to the main piazza Plebiscito. Originally used as a magnificent residence for one of the town's aristocratic families in the 1300's, the School building was later used as the Canadian Headquarters for troops during the Second World War. With a central Atrium that allows for an abundance of natural light and serves as a focal point for classrooms located on two floors, the School building is an ideal structure for the majority of classroom learning. In addition to the classrooms, the School also has various study spaces, an Art room, a Science lab and an outdoor courtyard. Breakfast is served in the main kitchen/common area of the building on the main floor and on weekdays there is always an abundance of seasonal fresh fruit  left out for snacks.

The boys residence is located on the top floor of the school. This is accessed by a separate entrance in the rear of the building and the boys enjoy a view of both the rooftops and the Adriatic sea in the distance.

The girls  are housed in our very own Allegria Inn and restaurant. One of the oldest establishments in the town, the Allegria has been feeding locals and passers-by for over 500 years. With beautifully decorated bedrooms and many common areas for dining and socializing, CCI students enjoy many of their meals in this building. Located a stone's thrown from the main Piazza Plebiscito, the Allegria can host up to one hundred guests.

Students enjoy a healthy Mediterranean diet, for which Italians are renowned, on a daily basis. Only local, seasonal food is served in a buffet-style setting as the School works hard to ensure that students' nutritional and culinary needs are met.
