Permanent Teaching Position

January 2020 Start

We are seeking an exceptional teacher who can inspire young people. This person is an individual who creates a friendly and productive learning environment, is passionate about teaching, and is a collaborative team player.

The position begins in late January 2020, which is the start of our second semester. The contract would last until June, with the possibility of renewal for the 2020-2021 academic year. An ideal candidate is one who is willing to stay with CCI for more than one year.


  • Grade 9 and 11 Mathematics, and Grade 9 Geography or another Canadian and World Studies course.

  • Experience teaching Sciences, Physical Education, or Visual Arts would be an asset as we build our timetable for 2020-2021.


  • Organize the classroom and resources to create a dynamic learning environment that appeals to a range of learners

  • Plan, prepare, and present lessons that cater to the range of student needs and abilities while ensuring the courses of study follow Ontario’s curriculum guidelines

  • Follow best practices and school expectations for assessment, maintenance of records, and reporting of student achievement

  • Provide appropriate feedback to advisors and parents on student progress through regular reports and daily communication

  • Support students on an individual basis through academic or personal challenges

  • Keep up to date with subject area developments, teaching resources and strategies and make changes to instructional plans and activities as required

  • Organize and lead at least one extracurricular club/activity per week

  • Participate in school meetings and events including supervised trips in Italy and other parts or Europe


  • Certification through the Ontario College of Teachers is required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the teaching subject

  • Qualifications to teach at an intermediate and senior level

  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience

  • Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, exemplary communication, problem-solving, negotiation and mediation skills

  • Willingness to participate meaningfully in the co-curricular life of the school


  • Teaching experience in international private schools

  • Knowledge of other subjects and flexibility

  • Experience teaching English Language Learners

  • Experience with Growing Success and the implementation of:

    • The four learning categories

    • Assessment for, as, and of learning

    • Assessment through student products, observations, and conversations
