Key Information
The School
Canadian College Italy offers a vigorous academic curriculum leading to admission into U.S., Canadian and European universities. It is located in a city of Lanciano in the region of Abruzzo, Italy. Students from across Canada, the USA and Europe attend CCI's Summer Academy to study and obtain high school credits in a culturally rich environment.
Summer School students take one class full-time and are granted a credit at the successful completion of their course of choice. The Summer Academy's enrollment is between seventy and eighty students, as steadily increasing numbers have found the experience academically rewarding and personally enriching.
Academic Credits
The courses offered at CCI's Summer Academy conform to the accreditation guidelines of the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training. The school's MIDENT # is 879142. These credits may be applied towards a high school diploma at institutions throughout North America and abroad. Courses are offered in the third and fourth year (grade 11 and 12), with the addition of Grade 10/Beginner Italian, of the Ontario Secondary School Program. Out-of-province schools will normally offer equivalent credits in their respective jurisdictions.
All students should consult with the guidance office at their current school before registering with the program to ensure that the course selected is appropriate and that the student has the required prerequisite for that level of study. Upon successful completion of the program, a copy of the course results and a transcript will be sent to each student.
Timetable
Classes are held Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and afternoons from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. In addition to class instruction, students will have time to study, participate in extra-curricular activities, and enjoy day excursions to major Italian tourist/historic places. Summer students will travel to Florence with short stops in Sienna and San Gimignano for a two-night excursion with guided tours of one of Italy's most fascinating cultural centres.
Faculty
The courses are taught by Ontario certified teachers who are all enthusiastic about their subject and teach it with passion and pride. The school community is very close since students and staff work, eat and travel on excursions together. Faculty is available after classes for extra tutoring.
