Closing Ceremonies
CCI's Closing Ceremonies take place every year on the first Friday of June. Parents, relatives and friends of the School gather in Italy annually to participate in this very special event as graduates receive their diplomas. The ceremony is held in the Opera House of Lanciano, called Teatro Fenaroli. It is situated next to the Town Hall in the Piazza Plebiscito which is the main town square.
Each family selects their own private opera box, which are all situated on different levels facing the stage. The beauty of Teatro Feneroli is that it is reminiscent of such opera houses as La Scala in Milan as it serves as a magnificent backdrop for the end of year ceremony. After speeches and formal addresses, graduates and award winners approach the platform from the main floor to receive their diplomas and awards.
The ceremony normally lasts one hour and is immediately followed by a formal dinner at the Allegria restaurant, just minutes away from the opera house. Students reserve tables for their family and guests ahead of time and a floor plan is posted in the entrance of the restaurant. After a buffet filled with a vast array of delicious appetizers accompanied by prosecco and wine, there is a formal sit down dinner that lasts well into the evening. Yearbooks are also distributed after dinner and students have the opportunity to have them autographed by their friends and teachers. It is an emotional evening since students will soon have to say goodbye to wonderful friends that they have made during the year as everyone returns home for the summer.
Please contact the Canadian Head Office if you plan on attending.
